O Colégio Jean Piaget foi fundado em 1976 pelos professores Marlene Oliveira Rosa Vieira (In memoriam) e Antônio José Vieira. Atualmente, a escola, localizada em Santos, no litoral de São Paulo, é dirigida também pelo filho do casal, o professor Dr. Alexandre Thomaz Vieira.
Foi o primeiro no Brasil a adotar a linha piagetiana, que tem como principal objetivo formar indivíduos capazes de inovar e não simplesmente repetir o que já foi feito por outras gerações.
Por isso, a proposta pedagógica do Colégio não foi construída segundo um único método, mas de acordo com metodologias que acreditam no potencial de desenvolvimento humano. Uma das bases de nossa proposta de ensino são os estudos do renomado biólogo suíço Jean Piaget, considerado o pai da psicologia infantil moderna.
