A denominação CECON reflete homenagem que o Professor Laércio Nunes, idealizador e fundador deste Sistema de Ensino, presta à própria mãe, Dona Conceição Ferreira Nunes, heroína da educação e verdadeira missionária pedagógica. Professora autodidata e pedagoga honorífica, Dona Conceição foi exemplo ímpar de mulher, mãe e educadora, sempre à frente de seu tempo. Dedicou sua vida ao serviço do próximo e à educação de crianças e jovens, deixando legado de excelência para transformação da vida de milhares de pessoas. O funcionamento regular do CECON foi autorizado oficialmente pela Portaria 697/99 da SEE – Secretaria de Estado da Educação de Minas Gerais, publicada no Diário Oficial “Minas Gerais”, em 27 de agosto de 1999, sob o Parecer favorável do Conselho Estadual de Educação – CEE 0477/99, credenciando o CECON a ministrar o Curso Técnico em Informática e a Educação de Jovens e Adultos, de Nível Fundamental e Nível Médio.

Hoje a Rede CECON, atende com notável êxito alunos de formação de Educação Profissional Técnica de Nível Médio em 28 modalidades, consta em seu complexo 2 Polos de Cursos Técnicos (Belo Horizonte e Divinópolis) e 5 Polos de Graduação e Pós Graduação UNINTER (Arcos, Barbacena, Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro e Três Corações), nestes 25 anos de existência.
